Free Black! will be live in Akron for Essential Tremors, an experimental music and arts series. Essential Tremors will be on Saturday, December 2nd with a lineup of music spread across three venues (Musica, BLU Jazz, & Baxters Speakeasy). The show will be free and open to the public. Free Black! Clinic w/ Akron Urban League

In this clinic, Free Black! will share their journey, individually & collectively, They will give an overview of various entry points into the music industry, songwriting, photography, and more. The session will include hands-on equipment demonstrations.

This experience will encourage students to be curious and explore all the possibilities of being an artist, and the importance of building a community of support among friends and fellow artists. You never know who you're sitting next to in class.

inCOPnegro: Aftermath explores the lives of four Black male characters after police violence has torn apart their community. This 60-minute work combines live jazz and hip hop music with Moore-Dunson’s choreographic style of “Urban Midwest Storytelling”. Seated in the round, the audience gets an intimate view of the healing process needed in Akron today.

The creation of inCOPnegro: Aftermath was shaped by one-on-one interviews between Moore-Dunson and Akron community stakeholders, police officers, and criminal justice workers, as well as those outside the region. Attendees are encouraged to listen to the podcast inCOPnegro: Black & Blue before seeing the show as it offers context for the choreography, music, and spoken word.

July 1 Performance: inCOPnegro: Aftermath & After Moments - Performance and concluding community discussion lead by LoveAkron Executive Director Kemp Boyd. Topic of conversation surrounding community healing after the grand jury decision not to indict the police officers who shot Jayland Walker.

Free Black! bridges conversations between the past & future through a warm vintage sound, historical examination & songwriting that highlights contrasts/similarities in innovative ways. “The Free Black! name was created on the mantra that ‘There isn't one way to be black.’

MOSSOM is a high energy indie rock duo made in Cleveland.

Will Cherry is an artist and producer hailing from Cleveland, Ohio. His eclectic influences range from Marvin Gaye to Kanye West and everything in between, and while his music is rooted in hip-hop, he often dips into the sounds he was primarily raised on: Gospel and R&B
