Floco Torres 38th independent album titled “This Creative Life” was released on October 15th, 2024. The album will be available directly on this website, as well as Bandcamp and all streaming platforms. CD orders come with a digital download of all 12 album tracks, and three bonus tracks. Tape orders come with just the 12 album tracks. “This Creative Life” has been in the making on and off since 2011, after the release of FT’s first full length album “Floco’s Modern Life.” The new album serves as a semi-autobiographical lens into the life of a creative, and specifically Torres’ life as an artist as well as the many other hats he wears. “I initially wanted this album to be more of a general look into what the day to day is like for an artist, creator, entreprenuer, etc. When I sat down to get on this path to finish the album, the ideas presented to me took me inward, and I chose to follow that instead. I felt uncomfortable a lot making this album, and somewhere along the way I knew that was a good thing, because I’m being as honest and as raw as I can,” says Torres.

The artwork for “This Creative Life” was created by Floco Torres. The collage styled piece serves as a map key to some of the themes represented in the album, as well as personal experiences throughout the process of making the album.

The album is produced entirely by Floco Torres and features the Uno Lady (One woman choir), Rachel Osherow (Vocalist), Goodie Supreme (Hip-Hop artist), and Josy Jones (Actor, Director). Mixed and Mastered by Jeff France of Imperial Emporium Sound Options.

A quick recap of working on “Light Em Up” w/ bassist David Moss. We ran outta time so this didn’t make the album.

A quick recap of finalizing "Fuck Fear." Produced by FT, the song is the second half of "Light Em Up" on the album. Inspired by The Ramones/Punk culture in the 70s, but also just wanting to make something hard that resonated with the feeling of bouncing back after a tough period in life. Mixed & mastered by Jeff France of Imperial Emporium Sound Options.

A quick recap of finalizing "Above The Clouds/Universal Library." Produced by FT, the song was created as an ode to my grandmother, as well as our ancestors or anyone that we've lost. Exploring the feeling of wanting to make them proud, while still navigating the fleeting feelings of temptation, wrecklessness, etc. Mixed & mastered by Jeff France of Imperial Emporium Sound Options.

A quick recap of finalizing "PANDEMONIUM." Produced by FT, the song was created as a commission for Cleveland Public Theater, to be used for their upcoming season of promotions, as well as their fundraiser of the same name. The song isn't on the album, but may be featured as a bonus track. Mixed & mastered by Jeff France of Imperial Emporium Sound Options.

A quick recap of working on "You're Not Wrong" from the album. Produced by FT, the song features Josy Jones, & will be mixed & mastered by Jeff France of Imperial Emporium Sound Options.

A quick recap of working on "Foundations" from the album. Produced by FT, the song features vocalist Rachel Osherow, & will be mixed & mastered by Jeff France of Imperial Emporium Sound Options.

A quick recap of finalizing "Something New." Produced by FT, the song samples The Dreemers 'Hand in the Mirror' off their Beach Mode album. The song didn't make the album, but was intended to open the album in an earlier version. "Something New" was meant to highlight the neverending cycle in what is expected of creatives in a 'what have you done for me society. "It's only a matter of time nowm till they want something new, new, new." Featuring Ben Patrick, owner of Akron Recording Company & formely of The Dreemers.

On Friday, June 21st, we presented a work in progress performance of my upcoming album “This Creative Life” in the parking lot of Dirty River Bicycle Works in downtown Akron. We had a great beautiful crowd on a warm day. We had a Lego station for people to create & have fun while the songs were played/performed. It was the best way to embrace the imperfect & be in the moment. Thank you to the bike shop for hosting this & thank you to Fej for running amazing sound for the evening.

Check back here for more updates on the process as we go back in to put the finishing touches on this body of work. It will be yours in October. - FT
