Free Black! will be at Jilly’s Music Room on Friday, December 20th, 2024. The show will also feature Wo Hop, Joe Merlitti, Crowd. The show is called “InterpRotations, where each band has picked a song to make their own version of. Each band will play all four songs, as well as other songs from their discography.

Free Black! will join MuAmin Collective & Messiah the Glytch at Happy Dog in Cleveland on Friday, December 13th, 2024. Show starts at 9pm, tickets on sale now here.

The 10th anniversary of the Panza Foundation benefit will feature performances by 2024 foundation bands Napsack, Free Black!, Powers/Rolin Duo, and Teamonade! A huge raffle w/ musical gear, merch, and other awesome stuff // announcement of 2025 foundation bands! Tickets available here.

Floco Torres will be joining Chris Coles ‘Nine Lives Project’ featuring Sean Jones at the Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival on Saturday, September 21st at 10pm. You can find more details here.

Nine Lives is an immersive musical and choreographed performance involving different mediums — including jazz, dance and animation — and reflecting on issues of social justice, racial inequality and gun violence. It is based upon the 2015 shooting in Charleston, South Carolina, in which a white supremacist killed nine Black parishioners at Emanuel AME Church. 

Coles will be joined by trumpeter, bandleader, composer, educator, and activist Sean Jones. Jones is an internationally recognized educator, currently holding the Richard and Elizabeth Case Chair of Jazz at Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Conservatory and is Artistic Director of Carnegie Hall’s NYO Jazz ensemble. Previously, Jones was Chair of the Brass Department at Berklee College of Music and served as President of the Jazz Educators Network.

This dynamic panel, featuring industry veterans Khirye Tyler, Walter Barnes Jr., and Al Parker III, moderated by the versatile Hip-Hop artist Floco Torres, will offer an inside look at the exhilarating yet challenging world of touring in live entertainment. Saturday, September 7th, 1:15-2:15pm at the Main Akron Library Auditorium in downtown Akron.

From early career breakthroughs to life on the road with top artists, each panelist will share personal stories and professional insights. Topics will include preparing for the logistical, musical, and personal aspects of touring, as well as tips for aspiring musicians and producers. Attendees will gain valuable knowledge on how to navigate the touring landscape, prepare for opportunities, and sustain a successful career in the music industry.

Floco Torres will be joining Chris Coles’ “Gleam” project at the Rubber City Jazz & Blues Festival on Friday, September 6 at 5pm at the downtown Akron Library auditorium. They’ll be performing their song ‘Mother’s Gift'.’ The project lineup inclues Tommy Lehman, Patrick Duke, Jordan Mcbride, Theron Brown, Zaire Darden, & Scuff Mickson.

Saxophonist, Composer and Educator, Chris Coles will be performing his “Love Demon” suite at our 9th annual Rubber City Jazz and Blues Festival. His performance will take place at the Main Library in Downtown Akron on Friday, September 6th at 5 P.M.

Floco Torres will be at the WAA Annual Conference in San Diego California. He'll be performing a 15 minute set at the conference on August 28, 2024, at 9:10 in the Pacific H/I Showcase Room. Location details TBA.

Free Black! will be playing at the Highland Square Porch Rokr Festival for the first time on Saturday, August 17th, 2024. Set time TBA. The festival is free & open to the public starting at 1pm.

On Friday, June 21st, Floco Torres will be presenting his upcoming album “This Creative Life” in it’s entirety at that moment. This will be a performance/listening event in the parking lot of Dirty River Bicycle Works in downtown Akron at 7pm. Please RSVP here so we know you’re coming through.

Free Black! will be live in Akron for Essential Tremors, an experimental music and arts series. Essential Tremors will be on Saturday, December 2nd with a lineup of music spread across three venues (Musica, BLU Jazz, & Baxters Speakeasy). The show will be free and open to the public. Floco Torres & Angie Haze will be performing a joint set at The Rialto Theater in Akron on Friday, November 3rd. Both artists will be on stage playing songs back to back with some collaborative songs in between. They also will be making a big announcement about their collaborative efforts going for.

Free Black! will be performing live in the Special Collections room at the Cleveland Public Library (Main branch, Downtown) on Saturday October 21st, 2023. The performance will be from 2-3pm. The show is free & open to the public.

Free Black! will be opening up for Jul Big Green in US Bank Plaza on Wednesday, October 4th at 5:30pm. The show is free & all ages. This show is a reschedule from the postponed Downtown Summer Concert Series back in June.

Angie Haze & Floco Torres will be playing an hour joint set live for an invite only house show happening on Sunday, September 17th in Akron. The two will perform solo songs from their catalogs as well as songs they have together.

After the clinic during the day, Free Black! will be back at C3 performing an hour set. Tickets are available on the C3 site here.

In this clinic, Free Black! will share their journey, individually & collectively, They will give an overview of various entry points into the music industry, songwriting, photography, and more. The session will include hands-on equipment demonstrations.

This experience will encourage students to be curious and explore all the possibilities of being an artist, and the importance of building a community of support among friends and fellow artists. You never know who you're sitting next to in class.
